Camellia Japonica is a flowering shrub native to Japan. It belongs to the Theaceae family. Its flowers can be white, pink or red. Tsubaki oil is produced by cold pressing the seeds of Camellia Japonica. This is why it is also known as “tea seed oil”.

They are special in that unlike other flowers, they do not fall off petal by petal, but the whole flower comes off. The Tsubaki has also traditionally been used to decorate the tea ceremony, as this flower has the particularity that it does not give off any odour, and while it offers a beautiful colour, it does not interfere with the aroma and taste of the tea.
The traditional Japanese method is to pick seeds from the ground by hand, when they have fallen from the tree on their own. This manual process ensures that the seeds are ripe and offer their full potential. To extract the oil for cosmetic use, cold pressing is used; this is a mechanical process that maximises the preservation of the nutrient content in the oil.
Massàxia tsubaki oil is a natural preparation that is more resistant to oxidation than its counterparts on the market. This is due to the natural antioxidant supplement that Elinné adds to the preparation, which is more effective than synthetic molecules such as BHT. This research technique applied by Elinné gives the preparation a longer shelf life while retaining its maximum activity.
